Gwinnett County Public Library, in partnership with Books for Less of Buford, welcomes internationally bestselling author Harlan Coben to Books for Less on March 28th at 6:30pm for a book discussion and signing for his latest thriller “The Stranger”.

Karin Slaughter, bestselling author and library advocate, will appear after a Curious George themed storytime for Barnes and Noble’s two-day Bookfair to benefit the Gwinnett County Public Library on Saturday, July 7th. Customers at the Norcross store can browse, enjoy stories, and sign-up for the library’s Summer Reading Program, as well as benefit the library with their purchases during the fair.
The Karin Slaughter book talk and signing will take place at 3pm, while the fundraising portion of the bookfair will take place from 9am on Saturday through 8pm on Sunday. The Curious George character visit and story time will be at 11am on Saturday morning.
Customers who specifically mention the library while checking out at this location anytime during the fundraiser can ensure that a percentage of their purchase goes to benefit the library.

Gwinnett County Public Library is pleased to host Jeffery Deaver at the Norcross Cultural Arts and Community Center on Thursday, June 14th at 7pm. Deaver’s newest thriller, XO, is his third novel featuring heroine Kathryn Dance, to be released on June 12th in time for the book chat and signing.
A former journalist, folksinger and attorney, Jeffery Deaver is an international number-one bestselling author of twenty-seven novels, two collections of short stories and a nonfiction law book. John Smoltz will appear at the Gwinnett Braves Stadium for a Gwinnett County Public Library Meet the Author Series special event on Friday, May 25th 2012. Smoltz will be available to sign copies of his book, Starting and Closing: Perseverance, Faith and One More Year, for baseball fans and readers alike from 6:00pm to 7:30pm.
John Smoltz, former starter and closer for the Altanta Braves, is an 8-time All Star and Cy Young award winner, and World Series champion, who is now an active sportscaster. The Atlanta Braves will be retiring Smoltz’s number 29 in June of this year.
“It’s wonderful that the library can help welcome back John Smoltz as he begins a new chapter in his amazing career, this time as a bestselling author,” says Gwinnett County Public Library Executive Director Nancy Stanbery-Kellam. “We love when we can bring both history and new beginnings to our community in unexpected places. Hosting John Smoltz at Coolray Field allows us to be right where the action happens, with our customers in the moment.”
This event is free for ticket holders of Friday’s game. Books will be available for purchase at the stadium and a percentage of books sales will benefit the library. Books purchased at this event will be signed and personalized.

Gardening enthusiasts are invited to meet Jane Bath, one of Georgia’s premier landscape designers, on Tuesday, April 17th. Jane will share her expertise on new landscaping areas and those planning renovations. A book signing for her bestseller The Landscape Design Answer Book will take place from 9am -11am, followed by a complimentary lecture and questions from the audience at 11am – 12pm.
Jane has over 25 years of landscape design experience at over 4,000 sites including residential, commercial, retail sites, and public gardens. She is the former owner of Land Arts Nursery of 18 years, Won Best in Atlanta (various categories) by Atlanta Magazine twice, and has written articles or been quoted as a resource by the AJC, and Better Homes and Gardens Magazine. She has been a guest speaker at The Callaway Gardens Winter Symposium St. Louis Arboretum, Atlanta Botanical Gardens, Georgia State Botanical Garden Symposium, Atlanta Historical Society, Georgia Native Plant Society, Georgia Green Industry Symposium, South Carolina Trade Show, Ohio State Trade Show, Charleston Botanical Society, and many Master Garden and Garden Clubs. In addition, Southern Living Magazine included a full spread on her garden ‘Jane Bath is a Born Gardener,’ and she has been featured in Better Homes and Gardens with some of her projects. She has also appeared in videos made for distribution on TV.

Lauren Willig, the New York Times Bestselling author of the Pink Carnation Series will appear at Georgia Gwinnett College on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 as part of the Gwinnett County Public Library’s Meet the Author series. Fans are invited to celebrate the release of Lauren Willig’s ninth book
in the series, Garden Intrigue, available in stores February 16, 2012.
Lauren Willig, a Yale educated Harvard Graduate School and Law School graduate, is best known for the New York Times Bestselling Pink Carnation series. Willig, who began a PhD in English History, completed the first book in the series, The Secret History of the Pink Carnation, while working on her doctorate and received her first book contract during her first month of law school. She went on to complete the second and third installments of the series during her second and third years, but after a brief stint as a litigator at a large New York law firm, she gave up law in order to become a full time author. Since then, her books have hit the New York Times list, been nominated for a Quill Award, featured regularly on the American Library Association’s annual “best of” list, and won the Booksellers’ Best, RITA, and Golden Leaf awards.
The reception for the author starts at 6pm, followed by a book chat and signing at 7pm.
